Jaguar XK8 Steering Rack

We can supply original brand new XK8 power steering racks complete with track rod arms and ends so ready to fit. (N.B. we only have right hand drive available - we have sold out of the left hand drive.) These steering racks are not compatible with the XKR. However, if you have an XKR steering rack or a left hand XK8 Steering rack which needs refurbishment let us supply this for you at a greatly reduced cost over the genuine Jaguar steering racks. Currently an XK8 Steering rack price will be in the region of £725 + Vat and carries an additional £150.00 surcharge pending return of the old one.

Jaguar XK8 and XKR Steering Parts

To cater for the increased power from the XKR supercharged V8 engine, Jaguar chose a heavier duty Mercedes transmission. With regard to problems, the main mechanical problem is leakage of oil through the O rings of the electronic case connector. Oil then works it’s way into the wiring loom and then into the ECU causing engine running problems. Symptoms of a leaking harness connector are obviously a loss of oil causing delays into drive or reverse when cold. Symptoms of a damaged printed circuit board is the vehicle going into default mode with the most common fault reading ‘Speed comparison between YN2 & YN3 implausible.’ This relates to the speed sensors which are incorporated within the electro plate.

Fortunately rather than the need to fully recondition this gearbox, to resolve problems of leakage and circuit board failure there is now an electronics replacement kit which contains the electrics plate, filter, sump gasket and connector O rings to resolve these problems and although quite an involved job, it could be completed by a competent DIY person or mechanic If you are doing this job or just changing the oil and filter , the special correct Jaguar spec Titan Fuchs ATF can also be supplied at about half the cost from Jaguar.
